Animal grooming
Grooming is a great time to inspect your dog for any abnormalities. In addition to shampooing and brushing, this includes examining the eyes and ears. You will inspect for redness, soreness, and discharge and can clean them with an appropriate solution. These regular checks are useful as a first step towards veterinary care if necessary.

Brushing, an important moment for health and well-being
Brushing the coat allows the detection of the presence of external parasites (fleas, ticks) and skin lesions. If you suspect an infestation, you can use a dog flea comb , which, thanks to its very tight teeth, highlights their droppings. Then place them on a white paper towel and moisten slightly: if a red color appears, it is indeed flea droppings. It will then be time to start an antiparasitic treatment.
In addition, hygiene plays an important role in the well-being and morale of our animals . Thus, an animal with claws that are too long will have pain when walking. Hair falling on the eyes will hinder its vision, it may then be more fearful due to a lack of perception of its environment.
If you get your dog used to regular and gentle grooming, he will appreciate it and you will establish a close relationship with him . To help him tolerate handling, do not hesitate to reward him with treats, at least at the beginning.
To further enrich your companion's diet and improve the health of his coat, also consider incorporating salmon oil into his routine. This oil, rich in omega 3 & 6, is specially designed to enhance your dog's coat and give it a natural shine.
Choosing the right shampoo for your pet
A wide range of products now exist to help you groom your four-legged friend.
Each shampoo has properties and characteristics depending on what you are looking for and the specificity of your dog's coat. Today, it is easy to find products without silicone or paraben, in order to minimize the risks of irritation and allergies.
Do not use human shampoos for your companion. Since the pH of the skin is not the same, this would unbalance its skin flora with potential itching, hair loss, irritation, etc. You must always use a product that is suitable for the animal species.
The nature of the hair, the color of the coat, the age or even the particular sensitivities of your dog are all factors to take into account when making your choice.
Some shampoos will be suitable for short-haired dogs like the short-haired dog shampoo , others for long to medium-long hair like the long-haired dog shampoo to which you can add a detangling lotion to facilitate brushing. The color of the coat can also be a selection criterion. The shampoo will then restore shine and prevent the appearance of dull hair. For When washing a young puppy, use a very gentle product such as a puppy shampoo , respecting the fragility of the skin linked to its age. Finally, if your pet suffers from allergies or skin disorders, a hypoallergenic dog shampoo will moisturize the dog's skin without irritating it.
Some animals develop what is called canine atopic dermatitis. This genetic skin condition results in a deregulation of the immune system and dysbiosis, i.e. a change in the skin flora. It is often aggravated by environmental allergens such as fleas or food. The skin will often appear red, papular, sometimes oozing mainly in the areas of friction, ears, lips and at the ends of the legs. Grooming is an integral part of the treatment of atopic dogs. Dogs are given moisturizing and/or antiseptic shampoos in the event of superinfection very regularly at the beginning of treatment, then more spaced out thereafter depending on the extent and evolution of the lesions.
